Guysborough County

Guysborough is located in the Guysborough/Canso region of the Marine Drive, Guysborough county.

Guysborough (pop. 494), at the head of Chedabucto Bay, is the Shiretown of Guysborough County. Guysborough Harbour is a large body of sheltered water providing ideal conditions for small boats, and a launching ramp provides easy access. Runabouts which can pass under Boylston Bridge have a further 11 km (7 mi.) of navigable water. Services include a bank, restaurants, a shopping mall, a hospital, post office, campgrounds a vacation resort with accommodations and swimming pool, golf course, boat and canoe rentals, a detachment of the RCMP stores and visitor information. At the mouth of Chedabucto Bay, you may see a special community resident, Wilma the Beluga Whale!

The Old Court House, a Heritage Property built in 1843, has been restored as a local museum. Displays include early Acadian and Black settlements in the area, a collection of domestic tools and handcrafts, and early photographs. Mulgrave Road Co-op Theatre is a touring company based in Guysborough. The Guysborough County Trail, on an abandoned rail bed, is part of the Trans Canada Trail system. Guysborough Come Home Week is held at the end of July
